The countryside of the Euganean Hills provides a splendid setting for the Colli Euganei DOC zone and its jewel in the crown: the DOCG wine Fior d’Arancio.
This hilly area, formed as a result of volcanic activity that occurred 35 million years ago, can boast of being the birthplace of Italy’s first Bordeaux-style blends. In 1870, in fact, the noble Corinaldi family planted the first vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc on Italian soil at Lispida.
Among the most representative wines of the DOC are Serprino, Colli Euganei Rosso and the whites based on Moscato grapes.
The zone’s DOCG, on the other hand, is represented by Fior d’Arancio in its three versions: dry, sparkling and sweet. The ancient Fior d’Arancio variety reached our hills many centuries ago after a long trip from the East, perhaps from Syria or Mesopotamia. Thanks to the passion and hard work of our winemakers, it has become the jewel in the crown of Colli Euganei wine production and earned the prestigious DOCG designation in 2010.
